Directions / Parking

  • There are four designated parking spaces for people with disabilities 
  • There are several public transportation stops in the vicinity of the youth hostel

Building

  • The building is accessible without steps via the alternative entrance in the basement or via a ramp at the side entrance.
  • Nearly all rooms and facilities available to guests are accessible without steps, via ramps or elevators, and the doors and passageways are at least 90 cm wide.

Reception / Dining Room

  • The reception desk is 110 cm high. An alternative, equivalent means of communication is available for seated guests.
  • Wheelchair-accessible tables are available in the dining room and cafeteria

Rooms

  • Room E14 (shared room, also bookable as a double room, ground floor)
  • 8 barrier-free rooms with private bathrooms are available. There is a connecting door to another room.
  • The bed is 46 cm high.
  • An alarm trigger is available.

Bathroom

  • There are grab bars on the left and right sides of the toilet. The grab bars can be folded up. There are grab bars in the shower.
  • The sink is wheelchair-accessible. The mirror is visible whether standing or sitting.
  • The shower is accessible without a threshold. A shower seat is available or can be provided upon request.
  • Public restroom for people with disabilities (ground floor)

Information for people with hearing impairments and deaf people

Building

  • There is no visually noticeable alarm.
  • There is no induction loop system.
  • Alternatively, stairs are available. 
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed by an audible signal.

Dining room

  • The dining room and cafeteria are equipped with tables featuring bright, glare-free lighting, with no lamps standing or hanging above them that would obstruct the field of vision or eye contact.
  • The dining room has a seating area with minimal ambient noise (e.g., a cozy corner, a separate room).

Rooms

  • Room E14 has at least one available electrical outlet near the bed.
  • There are eight identical rooms.

Information for people with visual impairments and blind people

Assistance dogs

  • Service dogs are permitted in all relevant areas and rooms.

Fonts

  • The font used on the menus in the dining room and cafeteria is simple and high-contrast.
  • There are no menus available in large print or Braille.
  • Orientation information is not available in Braille or prism script.

Building

  • The main entrance is designed to provide high visual contrast.
  • All elevated areas accessible to guests are well lit, i.e., bright and glare-free.
  • The signage is designed with easily readable, high-contrast lettering.
  • There are glass doors without safety markings.

Elevators

  • Outgoing emergency calls in the elevators are confirmed by an audible signal. The stop position is not announced verbally. The control elements are designed with high visual contrast and are tactile.

Stairs

  • Alternatively, stairs are available.
  • The stair treads are not designed with high visual contrast.
  • Stairs have a handrail on at least one side.

Information for guests with cognitive impairments

  • The youth hostel's name or logo is clearly visible from the outside.
  • The trail markers are within sight.
  • Wayfinding information is not displayed using pictograms or images.
  • Food is displayed in the dining area (buffet, counter).
  • There is no information in easy-to-read language.
